A New Democratic System for a New Liberia

At 170 years and the 4th poorest country on Earth, Liberia is led by a graduate of Harvard University and a Nobel Prize Laureate. In the last election cycle, there were four (4) graduates from Harvard University campaigning for the presidency. None of the candidates in Liberia’s past and current elections have ever proposed creating a new system of governance that empowers citizens, and no politician has ever called for the rejection of the flawed 170 year old representative democracy. With excessive salaries and benefits, ritualistic killings, unlimited presidential powers, depletion of our natural resources and endemic corruption, our system of representative democracy is broken beyond redemption. The citizens must end "business as usual" and call for a sovereign National Conference to create a New Constitution that empowers citizens.
